Chats often contain customer data, internal notes, or unreleased copy. Redact before you export or share.

Common backup methods

  1. Manual copy: Good for single replies — paste into Notion, Docs, or local Markdown.
  2. Section export: For long threads, ask the model for a “full Markdown summary,” then copy it.
  3. Screenshots: Check whether the sidebar shows account info.

DeepSeek’s web UI changes over time. If official export or share links appear, prefer those and confirm whether links are public.

Pre-share redaction checklist

  • [ ] Remove phone, email, government IDs
  • [ ] Replace client/company names with “Company A” / “Client B”
  • [ ] Remove API keys, passwords, internal URLs
  • [ ] Confirm audience (public link vs. team-only)

Browser & account privacy

  • On shared PCs, log out and clear chat.deepseek.com cookies
  • Do not paste production secrets into chat; handle secrets in proper dev workflows
  • Corporate networks may inspect HTTPS — handle sensitive content locally when needed

Clear local traces

  1. Browser settings → Privacy → clear site data for chat.deepseek.com
  2. Mobile: close the tab from the app switcher; clear WebView cache if needed
  3. If clipboard sync is on, check whether chat snippets synced to the cloud

Team sharing habits

  • Internal: share redacted Markdown plus a short conclusion
  • External: avoid full transcripts; share human-reviewed excerpts only
